James Meador composer / arranger
James N. Meador (ASCAP) currently plays bass trombone with the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra (Orquesta Sinfoinica de Yucatan) located in Merida, Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula, a position he has held for the last ten years. He previously held the same position with the Iris Chamber Symphony under conductor Michael Stern and the Acapulco Philharmonic. He also held the position of second trombone with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. As an invited musician he has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional do Porto, Orquesta Sinfonica de Jalisco, Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Festival Orchestra, and many others in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Ohio, Illinois, and Mississippi.
In addition to performing, James is also an active composer and arranger of low brass music. His pieces have been performed throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia, Mexico, South America, and Australia. He has received numerous commissions from prominent members of the low brass community, and his success with these projects has earned him a solid reputation as a composer oflowbrassmusic. A native of Houston, Texas, James N. Meador holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Trombone Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, a Master of Music degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and additional Performance Studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music in Cleveland, Ohio.
