John Gibson composer
John Gibson's catalogue includes works for band, orchestra, chorus, percussion ensemble, and musical theatre. His eclectic and remarkably accessible style is consistently colored by his personal experiences. Gibson is the resident composer for the internationally-acclaimed Dallas Wind Symphony, the nation's premier professional wind ensemble. His last project, The Children of Pearl Harbor, was commissioned in anticipation of the ensemble's 20th celebratory 2005-2006 season. His works include California Suite, Horizon, Spirit Sleeping, Resting in the Peace of His Hands, American Anthem and Children of Pearl Harbor. He is a member of the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers. John Gibson holds composition degrees from Texas Tech University and the University of North Texas, and has taught at the University of North Texas, the University of Arizona, McMurry University, and Southern Methodist University. In addition to his free-lance work, John now serves as Creative Director at Southern Methodist University.
