Jukka Viitasaari (b. 1961), M.E., is a former Finnish classroom teacher with a musical background including studies in music theory, rock, jazz, and low brass instruments. Primarily performing on tuba and guitar, he has composed dozens of pieces for wind bands of various forms of which over sixty have been published, including nine in the United States.
Initially known for his music for young performers and rhythmic music, he has also expanded his catalogue towards concert music. His international merits include prizes from nine international composition competitions, including 1st prize in the USA for Dance of the Epiphytes in 2013 and in Italy for Light up the Sky! in 2006.
