Lionel Beltrán-Cecilia was born in Amposta on June 8, 1984. He began his musical studies in 1993 at the music school of the "Unió Filharmònica" of Amposta and later specialized in percussion.
In 1997 he joined the youth band of the "Unió Filharmònica" and in 1998 became part of the Band of the same entity. In 2005 and 2006 he was selected as percussionist of the Federal Band of the "Federació Catalana de Societats Musicals".
As a composer, he began in 2008 with the premiere of the pasodoble "Sandra". Later and after premiering several compositions, he won the International Composition Competition of the Hymn to the Philharmonic of Olivenza (Badajoz) and was a finalist in the First Composition Competition of Bullfighting Pasodobles "Villa de Brihuega" (Guadalajara), with "Valiente y Triunfador", in 2011.
In 2012 he attended the annual composition course at the ECD "Baix Maestrat" in Càlig (Castellón) with the composer Óscar Navarro.
In 2013 he premiered the Divertimento para xilófono soloista y banda "Xilofonia", edited in 2014 by the music publishing house CAP Music editors. To date, this work has already been performed by more than a dozen bands. This same year, it wins the II prize of the XXII Concurso de Composición de Pasodobles "Villa de Pozo Estrecho" (Cartagena) with "La Verbena", pasodoble also edited by the same publisher.
In 2014 he carries out the Workshop of Formation and Didactics Applied to the Direction: Music Master, in Betxí (Castellón), with the Master-Director Llorenç Mendoza, dedicating to these workshops the pasodoble "Musica Maestro", composed in 2011. In this way, this composition becomes an obligatory work to work in these workshops.
In 2015, he is finalist and is 2nd Classified in the Final Concert of the II National Contest of Composition of Procession Marches "José Berenguel Escámez" in Almería, with "Jesús en el Monte de los Olivos" (presented in the concert as Marcha nº 25).
