Ludovic Neurohr composer / arranger
Born in 1983 in Sion, Ludovic Neurohr comes from Grône, Valais. He started playing the cornet at an early age with his village's Brass Band, La Marcelline, and studied with Géo-Pierre Moren from 1995 to 2002. Lot of times he has won prizes during regional and national solo contests. In 2003 he became Swiss Junior cornet champion and overall Swiss Junior champion (Flugel horn). From 2001 to 2005, he was repiano cornet with the Brass Band 13*, with whom he has won many competitions.He studied music at the Tibor Varga music academy in Sion from 2003 to 2007, in the class of Claude-Alain Barmaz. His BA is done in 2007, with top marks, as well as obtaining his professional diploma in the theory of music. He also studied the piano for three years, as well as orchestration and chamber music.
In September 2007 Ludovic Neurohr widened his musical knowledge by studying composition in Manchester, England, at the famous School of Media, Music & Performance of Salford University. He obtained his MA with distinction in October 2008. He could learn the film music, Popular music and Brass Band with Dr Robin Dewhurst, Dr Alan Williams, Dr Tim Warner and Professor Peter Graham. He also had the opportunity to work with Professor David King and the Australian National Brass Band. During his Masters, Ludovic Neurohr won the Kirklees Composer Contest 2008, enabling him to work with the publishers of the same name, based in Brighouse, Yorkshire.
In April 2009 in Ostend, Belgium, Ludovic was awarded of second prize winner in the European Composer Contest linked to the European Brass Band Championships. His piece, Whirl, received excellent remarks from the jury, composed of Mrs Jan van der Roost, Ray Farr and Rob Goorhuis, who described the composition as innovative and colorfull. Ludovics music, which has been played in different contests, has always enjoyed great success, with congratulations from well-known names such as Frank Renton, David King, Alan Williams and David Read.
In September 2009 Ludovic Neurohr began a teaching course at the Pedagogic High School with a view to teaching in secondary schools. Since 2012, he teaches music at the secondary school in Le Chable and Sion and Theatrical Expression at Ardévaz School.
