Mlou Dietzer DMA 73 (MUS) was a longtime member of the Music Teachers Association of California (MATC), founding member of the Orange Coast Cities, State Board member for two terms, State Membership Chair, Convention Chair and editor of the California Music Teacher Magazine. She served as an MTAC adjudicator, clinician and master class teacher in MTAC and for various musical organizations throughout Southern California. She served on the piano faculty at California State University, Fullerton for over 25 years.
Her commitment to piano pedagogy resulted in her First Impressions Intermediate Piano Method series, Discovering Piano Literature series and Discovering Piano Etudes book, published by Alfred Publishing Co. She co-founded the Victoria Chamber Series in Orange County, performed extensively as an orchestral soloist with chamber music ensembles and in solo recitals, and produced several recordings as part of the Janus Duo. She passed away on April 10, 2017.
