Nils Lindberg composer / arranger

Nils Lindberg (* 11 June 1933 in Uppsala) was a Swedish composer and arranger who also became known as a jazz musician (piano, organ).

Nils Lindberg trained in classical composition at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. His style incorporates the folk music of his native Dalarna. He has worked as a composer, arranger and pianist of both contemporary classical music and jazz. In 1973 he published 7 Dalmålningar, and in 1993 his work Requiem for choir. With musicians such as Jan Allan, Allan Botschinsky, Idrees Sulieman, Eje Thelin, Lars Gullin, Herb Geller, Red Mitchell and his own orchestra, he has recorded numerous albums under his own name since the early 1960s, was a sideman with Alice Babs and accompanied the singers Karin Krog (1977/80) and Lena Jansson (1984/87). After 1995 he recorded several more albums of his own choral works with Gustaf Sjökvist's choir. He also composed for organ and symphony orchestra. In addition to his Requiem, A Christmas Cantata in particular has been performed repeatedly.
