Peter Bowman

Peter Bowman has written extensively on recorder teaching and performance, including the translation and adaption of a major new recorder method for Schott, Fun and Games with the Recorder. He has adjudicated at a number of national and international recorder competitions in Germany, Holland, Australia and for the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, and is a consultant for recorder to the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
Peter has been teacher of recorder at Canterbury Christ Church University since 1992, when he also founded the UK branch of the European Recorder Teachers' Association (ERTA). More recently he was instrumental in founding the umbrella organisation for recorder teachers, ERTA (International), to which he was elected General Secretary in 2003.
Peter is happy to present workshops and masterclasses on all aspects of recorder teaching, recorder playing and the recorder's repertoire, including teaching the recorder to beginners and selecting suitable repertoire for the early stages of learning.
