Rens van Leeuwen arranger

Rens van Leeuwen was born in 1993 in Sint Maartensdijk and, after 11 years of trumpet lessons with Monique de Rooij and Jan Spruit, he went to the Rotterdam Conservatoire in 2011 to do the preliminary trumpet training. Instead of starting with the trumpet course, he switched to wind orchestra conducting in 2012, to follow his great passion - inspiring musicians at all levels. The aim of the course was and is to develop a broad profile, so that orchestras can go in any direction and can realise their own dreams for the future. For this reason, Rens not only follows lessons with his teacher Carlo Balemans, but also choral conducting with Wiecher Mandemaker and orchestral conducting with Hans Leenders. Rens learned arranging from Carlo Balemans and Jos van de Braak.

A number of arrangements have been published by Baton Music, but his speciality is writing customised arrangements so that every orchestra member gets a part that suits him or her. His philosophy? The conductor as a professional, inspirer, coach and advisor.
